A Coastal Habitat Favoured by Turtles
Turtle Point takes its name from the frequent presence of green and hawksbill turtles that come to feed in the seagrass beds or rest near the coral bommies. The shallow depth allows divers to observe these iconic animals in bright natural light, creating calm and intimate encounters.
Ideal Conditions for Learning
Thanks to its gentle profile, minimal current, and open sandy areas, Turtle Point is often used for Open Water courses, refreshers, and buoyancy practice. The conditions are particularly forgiving, allowing divers to progress confidently while enjoying a pleasant environment.
Diverse and Accessible Marine Life
Beyond the turtles, the site hosts a lively mix of reef species such as butterflyfish, angelfish, trumpetfish, and damselfish. Macro enthusiasts can spot nudibranchs, cuttlefish, leaf scorpionfish, and cleaner shrimps tucked into the coral heads. Stingrays occasionally rest on the sand, and the bommies attract curious octopus and small moray eels.
