Ruang Lap No. 8

Ruang Lap No. 8 is a deliberately sunk vessel of approximately 34 m lying on a sandy bottom off the east coast near Belle Mare. The wreck rests at about 24–27 m and is commonly dived as a multi‑level profile combining wreck exploration with a shallower reef or nearby drop‑off.

The site attracts abundant reef life and provides an accessible artificial‑reef structure for experienced divers. Conditions vary by season and operators typically run the dive from Belle Mare with a full site briefing and conservative gas planning.

The wreck’s intact superstructure and clear exterior profile make it suitable for non‑penetration exploration. It functions as an artificial reef, drawing moray eels, lobsters and schooling reef fish. The sandy seabed and adjacent drop‑off create a varied multi‑level dive experience.

Typical Dive Profile

Dives are usually planned as multi‑level: an initial descent to the wreck at 24–27 m followed by a controlled ascent to shallower reef areas or the boat pickup depth. Divers should use a dive computer and conservative gas planning to manage no‑decompression limits.

Marine Life

Common sightings include moray eels in crevices, lobsters within the wreck structure, snappers, fusiliers and groupers. Seasonal visitors and larger pelagics may appear along the nearby drop‑off depending on conditions.

Hazards and Operational Notes

The wreck depth exceeds typical OWD no‑deco comfort times and should be treated as an advanced dive. Penetration is possible but only for trained, properly equipped divers. Watch for entanglement hazards, sharp metal and reduced visibility inside the wreck. Follow the operator’s brief and emergency procedures.
