Japanese Garden is a colourful mid-depth reef dive located in the Belle Mare area on the east coast of Mauritius. With depths between 19 and 24 m, the site is known for its soft corals, bommies and delicate coral structures arranged like a natural underwater garden.

The site offers gentle conditions, good visibility and a peaceful atmosphere, making it ideal for OWD+ divers looking for a relaxed and scenic reef dive.

A Coral Garden Inspired by Japanese Aesthetics

The site is named for its balanced layout of coral heads, soft corals and sandy patches that resemble a landscaped garden. The bommies create natural pathways and sheltered areas rich in marine life.

The depth range makes Japanese Garden accessible to OWD+ divers while still offering enough depth for a calm, immersive reef experience. Navigation is easy thanks to the open layout.

Colourful Reef Life

Butterflyfish, angelfish, wrasses, parrotfish and snappers are common. Moray eels, leaf scorpionfish and nudibranchs may be found among the bommies and soft corals.
